The gophers are going to be really cheesed off. When the $3-billion commercial behemoth known as StoneGate Landing appropriates 445 hectares—about 1,000 football fields—of prime tunnelling ground north of the Calgary International Airport, prairie dogs and their ilk will have to vamoose elsewhere. Of course, they’re not the only ones feeling the big squeeze in the northeast, a primo real-estate “opportunity,” the largest in the city’s history, currently projected for completion in 2016.
